The brand was inspired by the birth of the her son, John J.P. Dawson in 2023, when the desire to raise a family at home and build something meaningful led to the creation of Dawson Western—a brand that speaks to the heart.

From the youngest cowboys and cowgirls to the adventurous souls of all ages, Dawson Western offers collections that captures the essence of Western style with a true Australian twist. Each product reflects a deep commitment to family values, authenticity, and the spirit of community.

Founded in November 2023, Dawson Western was nurtured with love and fueled by the joy of motherhood and the desire to support local communities.

Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Sophie, the founder of Dawson Western.

Like many small business owners, I wear all the hats! From product sourcing and packing orders to chatting with customers, every part of Dawson Western has my personal touch.

I started this journey with a simple idea: to create high-quality, affordable products that families can trust. I poured all my love and savings into this passion project so I could share my admiration for everything country and western.

I grew up on the beautiful Gold Coast in South-East Queensland, but the land always called to me. I was horse-obsessed for as long as I can remember! During a challenging time in my life, I found myself reconnecting with the passions that once brought me joy—horse riding, being outdoors, exercising, reading, painting, and drawing. What started as a personal escape led me to the Northern Rivers in NSW, where I met my partner and fell in love—not just with the breathtaking countryside, but with him too.

He showed me unconditional love and support, introduced me to rodeos and the hard but rewarding life of tending the land, and taught me invaluable lessons along the way. From the moment we met, we both knew—that was it. I fell pregnant soon after, and with the birth of our son came the birth of Dawson Western.

This journey from maiden to mother, and starting a business with no prior experience, was especially challenging as I struggled with postpartum depression and anxiety. I hold this business very close to my heart, and I truly hope that passion is reflected in my work.
